Thanks to all our members and friends who participated in the 2019 “A Day in the Life of a Surveyor” Photo Contest for National Surveyors Week.

We received a total of 81 photo submissions. It was great to see so many different aspects of surveying throughout New York.  Since we had so many wonderful submissions, the PR Committee also decided to choose three (3) “runners up”.

Contest Winners:

 Overall Contest Winner

Featured on May/June 2019 Cover of The Empire State Surveyor

Christopher Grey, LS
Brooks and Brooks Land Surveyors, PC

About the winning photo:

Pictured is Christopher Grey of Brooks & Brooks Land Surveying, and a representative of their client.  Chris is seen here pulling witness ties to a rebar that he set on top of a Shawangunk Mountain Ridge. This monumentation survey was a result of a boundary line dispute that has been in litigation for many years.  The courts decided to have Brooks & Brooks monument the boundary line with five foot offsets of the determined boundary line.  I am also happy to report that through the use of proper safety gear and procedures, nobody fell over the 200 foot cliff throughout the entirety of this project.
