Advantages of Using UAS LiDAR and Imagery for Land Surveying

Approved for 1.0 NY LS/PE CE Hour

Unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), commonly known as drones, are helping surveyors save time, reduce costs, and collect enhanced data sets, all with the potential to increase field safety. This seminar will help surveyors understand what the current landscape is for drones, and how to best apply this technology to their projects. Dudek has mapped hundreds of thousands of acres with drones, and will showcase specific projects where UAS LiDAR and imagery were used on surveys, as well as share lessons learned along the way. Attendees will walk away with concrete use cases and scenarios for incorporating drones into their workflow, as well as the advantages for UAS LiDAR.

Seminar Goals and Objectives

  1. Describe the current UAS technology available for surveying
  2. List the types of projects and reference cases ideal for UAS LiDAR imagery
  3. Have a successful workflow incorporating UAS
