Labor Law Issues for Land Surveyors 2018

Approved for NY CE: 1.0 Hour

New York State's prevailing wage law's origins go back over 100 years, yet it is ever evolving. Bureau of Public Work representatives will provide instruction on how to navigate the law's requirements specifically as it relates to Land Surveyors in 2018. Recent court of appeals and the prevailing wage definition will be reviewed to demonstrate its effect.

Seminar Goals and Objectives

  1. Articulate the scope, application and legal requirements of Article 8 of the NYS Labor Law and related laws, specifically how they impact Land Surveyors in 2018.
  2. Identify the impact of a recent Court of Appeals Public Work definition and its effect on both public contracts and the survey industry.
  3. Determine Prevailing Wage applicability in the fast changing new world of hybrid public/private partnerships.
