From 1974 to 1979, he ran his own surveying firm and a computer software development firm. He was in charge of the Monroe County Surveyors Office from 1979 until his retirement at the end of October 2002. Mr. Prescott served as President of the GVLSA from 1992-1993, and also served as President of NYSAPLS from 1999-2001, then as executive director of NYSAPLS from 2002-2003. Mr. Prescott also served as President of the Rochester Engineering Society. Mr. Prescott was the recipient of the NYSAPLS Pillar of Excellence Award in 2007.
