The New York State Association of Professional Land Surveyors has made advocacy and government relations one of its highest priorities. We believe there is a great need to increase the visibility of the land surveying community through the public policy process.

NYSAPLS legislative representatives and its active Legislative/Executive Committee represent the land surveying community before the Legislative and Executive Chambers, focusing on critical issues that will enhance the surveying profession.  NYSAPLS monitors regulations which may threaten the profession of land surveying. And our legislative agenda includes issues such as expanded scope of practice, surveyor right of entry, and updating the definition of the land surveying practice.

All NYSAPLS members can contribute their skills and their time to the Association's advocacy program. Members are encouraged to meet with their State Legislator in their district offices and participate in periodic Call to Action letter-writing campaigns. The committee welcomes input from the NYSAPLS membership on any ongoing legislative issues or items that they feel are of concern to the land surveying profession. Please email Daren Morgan or Robert Smith, co-chairs, NYSAPLS Legislative Committee, to express your views. He can be reached at dmorgan@lafavewhitemcgivern.com.

As a membership organization, input from each member is necessary in order for NYSAPLS to continually be able to work on behalf of all members.
